Entrepreneur Series: Building Successful Teams Isn’t Easy

The one thing that can separate you from the pack during your entrepreneurial career is your ability to build effective teams.
The companies you start can only go as high and as far as the team you have behind it. The talent you draw will be based on your experience, expertise and business savvy youve gained thus far.
The more you understand legal issues, finance options and business structures, coupled with your ability to inspire people and share compelling ideas for a better future, the more competent your team members will become.
Heres the thing though; during your entrepreneurial journey youll recruit many teams to operate companies you start and only a few of these, during instrumental periods of your life, will become ultimate successes. The rest wont make the cut.
People are funny. They will do things that will leave you shaking your head and dumbfounded. Youll do things that 10 years from now youll be shaking your head at!
Every individual you recruit on the team you did so because you believed they were the absolute best candidate to get the job done. Theres lots of love, expectation and excitement from the team in the beginning, but then the pressures, problems and real world situations come into play and you just dont know what people are made out of until theyre stressed and tested.
A founding team that argues and butts heads often will find success nearly impossible to attain. This causes too many distractions and leads ultimately to failure.
People will disappoint you. You wont get around it. You cant change people or expect them to be what or how you want them to be. You just have to learn from the experience and move on or you can choose to deal with a bunch of crap, costly law suits or add unnecessary years to your life wasting time you dont have to waste.
Instead you can build a half dozen more teams and companies, of which one of these could be one of those few ultimate successes youre going to hit out of the park. The key is to be making progress every minute, hour and day you have the privilege of being above ground.
If you have a purpose and vision for something much bigger than yourself, people will always be necessary to complete your mission. You just need to prepare yourself for the reality that people and teams can create unnecessary situations that can prevent a business from becoming successful.
There comes a time to move on. These are bumps in the road that sometimes cannot be avoided and the sooner you move on and focus on productively moving your life and mission forward, the sooner youll be back in the game building businesses, which is right where youre suppose to be!
